What We Do?

Viva welcomes volunteers to get involved in a variety of projects, programmes and initiatives and in a number of ways.

Medium- and Long-Term Volunteering

We welcome volunteers to participate for weeks, months, or up to a year for specific programmes.  Currently we require the services of Teachers and Teaching Assistants [Pre-School and Primary School up to Grade 7] and also practical workers with experience, or knowledge in building, farming, mechanics, engineering and administration. We offer accommodation for up to 10 full time volunteers.  Please feel free to request our Volunteering at Viva Info Pack at info @ vivafoundation.life.

Once-Off Volunteering & Volunteer Days

Mandela Day

Join us for Mandela Day [every year on the 18th July] and spend your 67 minutes making a difference.  Of course, it does not only have to be 67 minutes.  You are welcome to come alone, or bring friends, or colleagues and join in the fun. Viva goes big on Mandela Day with many activities available.  Our motto is "Every Day is Madiba Day", but we particularly love spending it with you on this special commemorative day.  From vegetable gardening to painting, art, music, cooking, building and sport, you will definitely find something meaningful to do.  Send us an email at info @ vivafoundation.life and let us know what you have in mind.

High-School Practicals

We have welcomed many high-school students doing their practicals at Viva.  If you are looking for a place to do your required volunteering, don'd hesitate to send us an email to info @ vivafoundation.life.

Universities & Research

We partner with the University of Pretoria on a regular basis, but have also welcomed students from the USA, Germany, SACAP and the University of Johannesburg.  Different faculties have made Viva their base for community outreach and have done very valuable research, or implemented great projects at our centres.  The South African Weather Service uses our Viva Connect, Cullinan centre for ongoing measurements and give valuable input to our learners.

Other forms of Volunteering:

Company Team Building Days

Regular volunteering from off-site volunteers e.g. Weekly classes, Sport or Workshops

Remote Work e.g. Social-Media, Design, Proof Reading etc.
